Holiday Giving Opportunities
New Covenant United Methodist Church provides opportunities during the fall of the year for members to engage in the Season of Giving. For information on holiday giving, please contact Janine Rogers, Director of Missions & Outreach.
Operation Christmas Child
September 2025
Since 1993, children from all around the world have been blessed during this time of year with shoeboxes full of school supplies, toiletry items, clothing and toys through Samaritan Purse's Operation Christmas Child. During the month of September, New Covenant is collecting shoeboxes as part of our 2025 Christmas Giving. We invite you to join in this effort to complete 500 shoeboxes.
You can help us with this goal one of two ways:
Pick up one or more shoeboxes at the church Narthex (an instructional brochure and rubber bands are included) and return them filled with items.
If you prefer not to shop, please send a check for $25 and a box will be filled for you. Please make your check out to "NCUMC" with Operation Christmas Child on the memo line.
Please return your filled shoebox(es) with $10 to help with shipping and processing by Tuesday, September 30 so that they can be processed for National Collection Week.
Christmas Wish Tree
October 2025
Please join us in providing holiday cheer for children supported by our Mentor Program, Kids Central, Inc., Shepherd’s Lighthouse, and the Refuge at Jumper Creek by selecting a tag from one of the Christmas trees in the East or West Narthex. A sign-up sheet is provided to ensure that we can keep track of the tags and gifts.
You can participate in this giving opportunity by:
Purchasing the items listed on the gift tag, or sending a check made out to New Covenant United Methodist Church with Christmas Wish Tree on the subject line. Please return all gifts by Friday, October 31.
Below is a brief description of the work of each ministry/organization:
Kids Central, Inc. – Kids Central’s Prevention Program provides support services to children and families in Sumter, Lake, and Marion counties to promote well-being, safety, and health. These families are also referred to other community organizations and resources to strengthen the family unit and build strong neighborhoods.
Shepherd’s Lighthouse – Shepherd’s Lighthouse provides temporary, transitional housing for homeless, single teenage mothers and their children.
The Refuge at Jumper Creek – The Refuge at Jumper Creek provides transitional housing and helps homeless families improve the quality of their lives through support and educational development.
Wildwood Middle High School Mentor Program – A partnership between New Covenant and students at Wildwood Middle High School that provides mentoring for 40 students, and focuses on the physical, spiritual, academic/career, and behavioral well-being of each student.
Giving in the Spirit
November 2025
Would you like the opportunity to give a monetary donation to an outreach ministry that impacts so many in our community, both locally and around the world? Giving in the Spirit provides a very meaningful way to bless others and share the joy of Christmas giving.
To participate, pick up a booklet at the Welcome Center, an entrance to the Christian Life Center during weekend worship, or in the Administration office during the week. You may also make a donation online using the button below.
Complete the form inside the booklet and put the form and your donation in the envelope by Friday, November 28 to the Administration Office, or place it in the offering basket during worship services by Sunday, November 30.
